Replacement of the Bospoort Bridge in Halle

The existing Bospoort Bridge has reached the end of its life and is due for replacement. The current Bospoort Bridge will be completely demolished. In the exact same location, we will build a new movable bridge with a width of 7 meters, exclusively for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport. The nearby Bailey Bridge will remain available for pedestrians and cyclists during the works.

The new Bospoort Bridge will be a table bridge that moves vertically to allow large vessels to pass through. The bridge opens and closes in approximately 7 to 8 minutes. With the bridge elevation, ships carrying three layers of containers will be able to pass in the future.

On the right bank, a lowered towpath with access ramp towards Stationsplein will be constructed, along with a connection between Graankaai and Stationsplein. The banks will be finished with prefabricated masonry. On the left bank, we will finish the banks in the same way. The bridge will connect seamlessly to the existing levels.

One-Stop-Shop

This project is a collaboration between BESIX, BESIX Infra and BESIX Unitec. BESIX is responsible for the civil works, BESIX Infra for the roadworks and BESIX Unitec for the automation of the new bridge.
