Where the pipeline passes through built-up areas, a separated system will be installed to drain rainwater to the Voer. As a result, areas such as Vitschen, Schophemerheide, Einde Sint-Martensstraat, and Knap will be provided with a separated sewer system where wastewater is transported to a treatment station and rainwater is buffered (i.e., delayed) and discharged to the watercourse.
In the past, the center of Voeren was repeatedly affected by water overload. To significantly reduce the risk of flooding, a new distribution structure was installed on the Voer River. This structure, consisting of 4 parts each weighing approximately 25 tons, is designed to better regulate the water level of the Voer.
