Carrying out sewerage works in the heart of Antwerp amidst narrow streets and historic buildings, poses several challenges. The limited space makes the use of large equipment almost impossible, requiring precision and care. The underground infrastructure, with its tangle of cables, reflects both the city's rich history ans modern developments.
Our teams work with specialised techniques and equipment to carry out the necessary improvements efficiently and with minimal inconvenience to the surrounding area. Every aspect of the project is carefully planned to preserve the cultural and structural integrity of the surrounding area.
To minimise inconvenience to residents, we implemented 'lesser disruption' measures. The works are strategically divided into three phases. One major modification concerns Lange Nieuwstraat, where the tram tracks have been removed to make way for a double-sided cycle path. This significantly increases safety and accessibility for cyclists.
Effective communication with local residents is crucial. Through information fairs and newsletters, we keep everyone informed of the project's progress, the planning of the work and any changes. This proactive approach ensures transparent dialogue and helps address any concerns residents may have.
